One of the most basic ways to get your child to start counting and learning numbers in order is to count the stairs as you walk up and down. They will also start to understand the concept of "One-to-One Correspondence" which is the understanding that each object being counted represents one more or that for each object being counted you give one number. For example, If you are counting apples, the first apple would be 1, the second would be 2, the third would be 3, etc. Counting objects is a great learning experience and also very easy and accessible. You can find things to count all around you. You can count how many peas on your plate. You can count how may blocks in your box. You can count how many books, dolls, trains, cars, socks, etc. The list goes on and on and you can count anything, anywhere!
Another thing to bear in mind when we teach our preschoolers is that we must strive to be sensitive, discerning and empathetic towards the learning capacity of our children. Balance and moderation is necessary in order to help our children reach their full potential. Pushing too hard and too fast wouldnt be a good idea if we would like our child to be developed the proper way. We must be patient to teach them depending on their ability and pace. Taking into consideration the fact that playing is a kids natural way can help them to develop their healthy emotional up building. Being playful is a normal stage in a kids life. It can help stimulate their creativity and develop moral, mental and emotional skills. Therefore nurturing our child means giving them chance to explore and discover the things they enjoy.
One activity that is a wonderful math lesson for preschoolers is called "A New Kind of Basket Ball". For this activity, line up five baskets or bins in front of the children and label them with the numbers one through five. These number labels should not only have the written number digit, it should also have dots that represent the corresponding number. Place fifteen balls in front of the children as well. Ask them to put the right amount of balls into each basket; one ball should be in the basket with the number one on it and so on. This activity teaches math appropriately to preschoolers. Children not only need to experience math with concrete objects but also visually and symbolically through abstract activities. The concrete objects in this activity are the balls. The balls represent materials that the children can see and touch and use to visualize and verbalize their thoughts. The number labels on the baskets represent visualization. The children should be given illustrations or pictures that represent the concept you are teaching them. The dot on the number one card, two dots on the number two card, and so on, illustrates each number for the children. The dots also represent the symbol of the numbers they are working with.
Studies have shown that a childs earliest years of development are the most critical. Early Education takes place from birth to age 5. A childs brain is 75 percent developed by age 5. It has grown dramatically by producing billions of cells and hundreds of trillions of connections during this time. Brain development is Activity Dependent and children who enter school with rich experiences have strengthened the development of brain connections. "85 percent of who you are--your intellect, your personality, your social skills-- is developed by age 5. Shouldnt parents and teachers invest where it makes the most difference." (MA. Early Education For All.)
Another way to stimulate a child is to have the right tool or preschool worksheets in developing their mental ability. We shouldnt underestimate their small brain by thinking that its not time for them to learn such things. Ages 3-6 are just perfect years for them to gain knowledge and education. Basic things such as shapes, colors, countings, letters and sounds are easily recognize even by toddlers. Not only that their memories are sharpened but they can easily imitate and recognize sounds that they hear. As they grow older, we can use a advance preschool worksheets that we know are fitting for their age. Lots of these worksheets can be found in bookstores or can be downloaded from the internet. Choose well researched preschool worksheets that contain modern and effective strategies to help you teach your preschoolers fast and easy. Above all you can make your childs pre schooling even more enjoyable and effective if you do so with real love and concern. Then after all, can look forward for the time when you will see your kids achieve their dreams and say to thanks to you for nurturing and developing them with love and concern.
None of this is true, of course. So, first you need to bite your tongue. Secondly, get your child interested in math from an early age. Math does not have to be about columns and columns of figures, and the sooner you can introduce your child to math in a fun way the better. Mathematics worksheets can help you do this, with pages of fun exercises that will teach your child the basic principles they need. This helps you, as you dont have to write out pages of math exercises and try to make them interesting - it also helps your child. A good set of kids math worksheets will present math in an exciting way, incorporating lessons of quantity, counting and writing numbers in a way that children understand and relate to. Mathematics worksheets should use different methods to teach your child the principles of addition and subtraction to make sure they understand the concept, not just learn the answers by rote. A decent set of worksheets will use step-by-step methods to help your child progress from the first steps in number recognition and counting, to more complicated sums and word problems.
