Its September and time for your child to start kindergarten. You have purchased the school supplies, the new backpack, new clothes, and new shoes. The first day of school you are so excited for your big kindergartener! But when you get to school, it is quite obvious that he is not as excited as you are. This school is much bigger than his preschool. It is full of unknowns. And he definitely does not want you to leave! Many a child will not allow her parents to leave her in the classroom with the teacher for weeks into their kindergarten year. There are many books about kindergarten that help children with ABCs and 123s and those are very helpful. But when a child needs to feel comfortable about being left in a classroom, what that child needs is a book that will walk him through the kindergarten year in a way that would help him feel more comfortable about his parents leaving him in the classroom.
Most of us tend to think of bingo as a game played mainly by older people, but today variants of the game can also be found in many schools and even kindergartens. The difference is that whereas the version of bingo played by seniors is principally enjoyed as a leisure activity, the version played in schools and kindergartens is played as a learning game, and is particularly used for teaching the alphabet, phonemes, and reading in general. There are a number of different versions of bingo that can be played in introductory reading classes, including: 1. Letter bingo - The most basic version of the game, one that students will quickly progress through is to play bingo using bingo cards printed with letters. The teacher acts as bingo caller, and either says the letter name or gives the sound of the letter, and students must find the matching square on their bingo cards.
Kindergarten ABC worksheets should have different activities to help children identify the various letters of the alphabet. The activities may involve very simple things like colouring, ticking, drawing a line to match items etc. Using attractive illustrations and cartoon characters would make it more fun for children. The activities should be graded, i.e initial activities should be very simple and easy (but should be fun with good pictures etc, so as to interest the child); later worksheets may involve a little bit more work. Care should be taken to give children worksheets that they are capable of doing. This involves understanding and monitoring the child continually, since the level of attainment of different children would often be quite different. The worksheet should challenge the child but not overwhelm her. If the worksheet is too easy or too repetitive, it may bore the child and she would not be happy. If the activity is too difficult it would frustrate her and she would not like to take up more sheets. The children should love to do the worksheets; they should not be thrust upon them. Also doing only worksheets alone repeatedly would not be very productive. You should have a range of physical games and activities as well that would reinforce the concepts learnt.
Kindergarten teachers are often looking for effective ways to teach their kindergarten students sight words. Many kindergarten teachers use different methods for teaching their student sight words such as teaching through the use of sight word games, sight word lists, and sight word activities. The appropriate method for teaching kindergartener students these important words should be determined by the teacher through assessment of age appropriateness, learning disabilities and other kindergarten student/classroom related factors. Sight words are the most common words used in the English language. A kindergarten student should be taught these important words so they can recognize the words on "sight." These important words are the core foundation for reading and are taught in every elementary school across the United States. Kindergarten sight words lists are important for enhancing student reading. The word list is made up of words that frequently appear in preschool and kindergarten level reading material.
Its important to work with your child to help establish an appropriate pace. Part of the benefit of interactive learning games is that parents can monitor their childs progress and see how well things are going. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised at how much your kindergartener learns in a short period of time. Supplemental Education Though kindergarten math cant be taught through learning games alone, interactive digital activities provide a good supplement to traditional education. When kids continue to practice what theyve learned and become more comfortable with it outside the classroom, theyre bound to do better as they progress through school. Learning games also give you an opportunity to work with your child at home, helping to boost his or her grasp of basic kindergarten math concepts. The use of digital learning games to teach kindergarten math is by no means a stand-in for traditional education. However, when kids are presented with a fun, interactive learning environment in their own homes, they can build skills and get a deeper understanding of the concepts that will lead to better classroom performance and a more positive school experience.
Teach your child to write and recognize his or her name. This will help in kindergarten as there will be things that are labeled with his or her name. You should also make sure they know their address and phone number in case of an emergency. Socialize your child. Get him or her in front of other children. Make sure your child isnt being overly selfish or mean to the other kids. Stop these bad behaviors as soon as you can. Teach them to play well with the other children in the neighborhood before they start school. As your child approaches the age to go to kindergarten, there are some basic skills that you need to teach your child. Find out what these are so you can start working on them.
