Arabic alphabets are very different when compared to English alphabets and may look like some erratically written script. The first alphabet in Arabic is Alef and the symbol for this letter somewhat looks like T in English language. It has a S like symbol over it which tells how to pronounce the alphabet. The S shape is known as hamzeh and is an accent mark. Sometimes the hamzeh appears beneath the alphabet that apprises you to pronounce it differently. The second letter of the Arabic alphabet is called baa. The symbol for the alphabet differs according to the positioning of the alphabet in the word. Baa is one of the joined letters in the Arabic language. Baa has two forms- a short form and a long form. The long form of the alphabet is used when the word ends with baa and the short form is used when the word starts with baa or it comes in between two letters.
The Greek alphabet is the first real alphabet and it is also the predecessor of the Latin alphabet. The early forms of this alphabet are written with the use of a syllabary. Also, it is adapted from the Phoenician alphabet with changes in the use of letters. The original alphabet only contains 24 letters. In Phoenician, the letters used were named after an object whose name started with that letter. Nowadays, there are a lot of alphabets that are being used today that were developed from the Greek alphabet. You can also find Greek letters that appear outside of the written Greek language in some forums such as mathematics and fraternity names.
The Greek alphabet, although some people may find it easy to read even without the whole knowledge of it, there are different sounds to it, which is different from the widely used alphabet today. It is better for you to set the letter of the day. It will help your children to learn and remember the alphabet. You should help the children to understand the letter by giving the word such as A is for the apple. It is even better for you if you show the apple picture or the real apple. You can teach different alphabet letters for different days. Another media helping you to teach the alphabet lesson is the toys. Sometimes you will buy the toys for your children. When buying the toys, you should choose the toys which are fun and also has the education aspect. The alphabet puzzle can be the right choice for you. Try to sing the alphabet song. Your children will not only find it is fun but they will be able to remember the alphabet letter easily. You also need to teach your children write the alphabet letters. You can start to teach the capital letters because the capital letters are easier to understand for the toddlers. To make the learning process more fun, you should give the children the colorful marker or colorful crayon.
Its never too early to start teaching your child the alphabet, so as well as singing nursery rhymes to your baby, sing the alphabet song too - you know, the one with the tune to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. By the way, you should slow down and pronounce L M N O P carefully; Ive heard lots of kids who can sing the song correctly but mumble through those letters, because that is how it has always sounded to them. Once you are able to start reading to your child, include an alphabet book in your reading. There many beautifully illustrated ones available. I also recommend that you choose one with both capital and lower case letters, which will introduce them to the idea that there are two different ways of writing a letter from the start. Simply say that This is a big A and this is a little A.
Visual evolution of writing Evolution of writing is reflected in its visual characteristics. We can easily see the salient visual distinction between alphabets and pictographs. Alphabet is a standardized set of letters. They usually comprise tens of letters, and are derived from complex pictographic scripts. Pictographs are complex and huge in amount. It is understandable to think that they have not evolved visually. If evolved visually, why becoming simpler instead of more complex? If writing is taken as visual art, it should evolve towards greater complexity. However, writing is a means of communication, representing and recording knowledge. The clarity, convenience, efficiency and suitability for reading thus become main concern. At the beginning, drawings were to depict something directly, as pictures. They were arranged usually in lines to represent meaning continuously. Apparently, the complex pictographs are not easy to recognize, lowering reading accuracy. It affects the reading fluency since more time is spent fixating at one pictograph before moving to the next. Complex symbols are discarded or simplified to facilitate linear reading. Some symbols had simpler and clearer visual pattern and were more frequently used. Long time passed, only a set of symbols are left and standardized. We call them alphabets. The reduction in number, simplification and standardization facilitate visual manipulation and memorization, leading the alphabets to supersede pictographs. Alphabetic writing is more suitable for reading than pictographic systems. We use the word legibility to denote the concept fit for reading, which we think is the central in evolution.
