Connect The Letter To The Correct Sound/Word: These are activities where you draw a line between a letter and the picture items that start with that letter. For instance, youd draw a line from the letter A to the word "Apple" and the letter L to the word "Lemon". This activity is good, but takes a lot of monitoring to make sure that students are correctly connecting the letters. Its best as a homework activity, where parents can help to make sure their children are correctly connecting the letters to the words. Letter Books: These are books that frequently use the same phonemes over and over so students can understand them (the link between a letter and the sound it makes). For instance, "Baby bear bounced balls".
Children who struggle in a traditional learning environment can also get great benefit from digital learning games. Interactive platforms provide a fun way to learn without fear of failure and give rewards that are in line with what is being learned. Through games, your child can gain the confidence he or she needs to approach math concepts that once seemed impossible. This confidence helps improve school performance and can lead to more positive participation in a classroom environment. Individually Catered Unlike basic school curriculum, digital learning games can be designed to move at your childs pace. Many games feature levels that build upon each other, so your child doesnt have to sit through lessons that he or she has already mastered. Instead, each level of the game increases in difficulty depending on how well certain ideas have been grasped. This creates a custom learning environment catered to the pace your child feels comfortable with. Without the stress of worrying about being left behind or the boredom that can result from having to wait to move on, kids can work at the speed they prefer and learn in a way thats just right for them.
Songs and poems can be a great addition to your kindergarten graduation ceremony as they service to entertain and educate those who listen to them. Some children become religious, quite late in their lives so you might experience some resistance to the idea in the first instance. The Montessori system tells us that children are likely to mimic the way that they were brought up so if they were religious in the family the introduction of prayer will not be seen as a big problem. The key is to recognize the individuality of kindergarten children even in matters of getting spiritual so you must never take a homogeneous approach to bringing them up.
Basic Math Skills Children are expected to have a basic understanding of numbers and their concepts because in kindergarten, math is quickly introduced. Kids quickly begin learning how to add and subtract. Those children who are not completely familiar with their numbers will find themselves lagging behind the rest of the class, causing them to have lower self-esteem. Problems with self-esteem have a way of carrying through the rest of a childs school career, making it difficult to get good grades and feel good about himself. Arts and Crafts Participating in arts and crafts is another great way to work on your childs motor skills. There are a variety of free kids learning games online that offer various worksheets that can be printed, as well as methods for children to work on their motor skills, including cutting and pasting, coloring, making masks and even basic origami. All these projects help children master their motor skills, while helping them think logically. Preschoolers love to learn and want to feel like they are ready to enter the world of kindergarten. Rather than sending your child into elementary school unprepared, you can allow him to play free kids learning games online to learn all the necessary basics to give him a head start and positive first school experience.
Kindergarten should be fun. And teaching kindergarten can be fun too. But as any good kindergarten teacher would well understand, it can be an extremely active experience. A kindergarten teacher has to get fully involved and involve children with lots of interesting kindergarten activities, worksheets and exercises, that would hold their attention and make it an enjoyable experience for them. There are two important points that may be kept in mind here: The learning should be fun. It should not feel like work, but play. For otherwise, children will quickly get bored. Hence it would be a good idea to use a lot of interesting activities, games, coloring sheets, illustrated kindergarten worksheets etc. You should be well prepared with these teaching aids, which can be made very easily.
In November 2007, our local board of education outlined its intention to standardize all-day kindergarten instruction across the district beginning with the 2008-2009 school year. According to the board, their enthusiasm is buoyed by a successful pilot program which has been running within the district, as well as research which supports the notion that all-day kindergarten enhances a students self-confidence and independence, leading to higher progress in social and learning skills. The move represents a significant departure from the traditional half day kindergarten routine (which, in actuality, is not even a half day), which was intended to provide youngsters with an introduction to their elementary years and where they could engage in a few hours of social interaction. That being said, a significant percentage of districts both state-wide and nationally have embraced all-day kindergarten. And certainly weve all heard about Saturday school and other examples of academic rigor placed upon young students abroad, particularly in the Far East. It is worth noting that this practice is alive and well the community where I live, within certain ethnic communities through their civic and religious centers.
